The medieval symbol of the Ex Voto of the flaming heart symbolises devotion, love, and gratitude. It appears across centuries of religious art, and I’ve made these miniatures to adorn your precious lobes.

Small stud earrings.
Available as singles or in pairs.
Choose from raw golden brass, recycled silver, or Fairmined gold plated brass.
The posts are crafted from sterling silver and the earrings are sent with push back fastenings.
Carved from wax and then cast in the UK.
About 1cm x 0.8cm.
Please allow up to 4 weeks for these to be made before they’re posted. Fairmined gold plating will take up to 6 weeks.
In Christian tradition Ex Votos were given as offerings to the saints or the divine, and this custom of gift-giving to saints, deities, or spirits can be traced back millennia to Mesopotamia and Egypt in the ancient near-east. The tradition continued into pagan Rome and then into early Christianity, blossoming in the medieval period. In modern day Mexico flaming hearts are still commonly worn and used as religious lucky charms called Milagros.
Care:
Brass and sterling silver will tarnish and darken over time. I’ll send you a polishing pad or cloth to wipe it up and keep these babies bright.
