Hoards of coins survived Ancient Rome, and this piece has been made from one that found its way to Britain. The Emperor medallion, with its rectangular form and molten edges, is made to look like a piece of molten treasure which has been unearthed within a hoard. It’s a fun and easy piece to wear, layer, and keep forever.

I bought a trio of Roman bronze coins and held this particular one above a naked flame until it was burning hot. I then impressed the coin into a rectangular chunk of jewellers wax, et voila: the Emperor’s impression was made again. This wax design was then cast into metal using the ancient-rooted production method of lost-wax casting.
