A large hefty heart to wear proudly upon your chest. This large heavy (but happy!) heart was sculpted from jewellers wax and cast into raw golden brass using the ancient-rooted production method of lost-wax-casting.

The love lock symbolises enduring promised love. This could be for yourself, another, or a lover. People have locked padlocks onto bridges and gates for centuries and this piece is loosely inspired by that tradition, and by Georgian love tokens and 19th century romanticism. This piece was originally created for a collaboration with Renli Su and now I’ve teamed this huge heart with a vintage belcher chain, to offer this romantic statement necklace.

Necklace Length: Choose from 16 inches - 24 inches in length .
The heart was carved from wax with tiny tools and heat from a candle’s flame. It has been transformed into golden brass.
This piece is heavy and weighs 55 grams.
The heart, the chain and the clasp are made from raw golden brass.
The chunky belcher chain is vintage deadstock which I have polished.
Use the chunky bolt clasp at the rear to fasten this necklace.
I have a few of these hearts already cast and ready to be assembled to your required length. Then these will be made to order and casting can take up to 4 weeks.

Care:

This hefty amulet and the chain are both made from brass! Brass is a gorgeous golden material and a brilliant alternative to solid gold as it will always buff back to being golden and bright. Brass is a base metal composed of copper and zinc and it does naturally oxidise and darken over time. It requires some maintenance to keep it clean or to shine it up for a special occasion.

The care card in your order and white foam polishing pad provided will help you maintain your brass jewellery. You can also buy brass dip and brass wire brushes to scrub across the chain to lift any oxidation. If you ever want to have your piece plated in Fairmined Gold, that can be organised! :)

It’s best to remove this piece whilst swimming and bathing as water will encourage oxidation. Perfumes, creams and lotions will also affect the colour, however it’s easy enough to clean up if you need to.
