The Ex Voto ring combines the symbolic Ex Voto of the Medieval world, with the early modern Irish tradition of the Claddagh ring. The flaming heart symbolises devotion, love, and gratitude.
Details:
Raw brass, or plated in Fairmined gold.
Made to order in your size.
It takes up to 4 weeks for your ring to be made and cast to order in your size. Gold plating takes an additional 3-4 weeks.
In Christian tradition, Ex Votos were given as offerings to the saints or the divine, and this particular symbol appears across centuries of religious art. Then, the Claddagh, which is thought to have appeared in the 17th century, appears with two hands which clasp onto a crowned love heart. The Claddagh is usually symbolic of love, loyalty, and friendship, as the hands are representative of friendship, and the heart is the love.
This Ex Voto ring therefore represents so much love, in its different varying forms. What a beautiful gift to give to yourself, or to somebody that you hold dear. I also like to think of this piece representing the saying “have heart”, whereby it acts as a reminder to, especially in these times, keep hope, be brave, and keep strong.
Handmade:
This chunky ring can be worn as a pinky ring, or a statement signet ring for any finger. I made it as a pinky, yet I know that if I wear too chunky a knit with this, it may well snag or catch. This piece is made in the UK using the ancient art of lost wax casting. Each ring will be ever so slightly unique as they’re expertly cast in the UK from responsibly sourced materials, and then finished by hand.

Available in raw brass, bronze, or gold plated bronze.
Care:
Follow the care card in your order and use the polishing cloth supplied. Brass and bronze will require regular polishing to stay bright and golden. All rings are best removed when bathing, washing hands, using creams and gels etc.
