Raw Brass Phalloi Ring
Raw Brass Phalloi Ring
The Phalloi Ring is back…
Boys in Ancient Rome would have worn these Phallic signet rings as apotropaic jewels, to protect them from witchcraft and the evil eye. The phallus represents the deity Fascinus who was a protector of children. The phallic symbol evoked his protection, and the crude symbol was believed to scare away the nasties.
I love this little phallic ring. I spotted a series of solid gold originals in the British Museum 6 years ago, and I just had to make and have one. I’ve worn it as a pinky ring for years. The willy usually goes unnoticed, but it’s a great little tale to tell if it does catch some attention.
Details:
Phallic signet ring.
Cast in brass and also available in recycled sterling silver.
A chunky band.
An organic molten effect, created with hot jewellers wax, and which imitates an artefact churned around by time.
Made to order in your size. Please be sure of the size you need when you order as I usually size them in wax before having your ring cast.
Up to 4 weeks to produce before delivery. Worth it for a winky on the pinky, though.
